Concert 5: JAZZ ABSTRACTS • The Music of MILES DAVIS & WAYNE SHORTER
                                                                with The Buhr Quartet

This concert features the music of two jazz geniuses: Miles Davis (composer/trumpeter) and Wayne Shorter (composer/saxophonist) performed by the Buhr Quartet, with guest Daniel Roy on drums.

Jazz legend Miles Davis moved into the mainstream avant-garde when he joined Charlie Parker's quintet in 1944 at the age of 18. By the mid-50's he was a jazz recording and touring superstar leading his own bands from then on. In 1964 the great saxophonist/composer Wayne Shorter joined Miles' famous 2nd quintet and recorded a string of his own compositions with that group. Most of those 60's Shorter compositions are now established jazz standards.
