Sitting, waiting, wishing
on a Manitoba skyline
watching the trains roll by
don’t sleep too late around here this
time of year
it’s almost always dark outside
ghost car circling
the old switchyard
six more weeks without the sun
I’ll take a long walk
watch the planes land
city cut a nice trail
through industrial wasteland
between the golf course and the war museum
I love my old man
still I never see him
knock knock ginger
riding bumpers down the lane
everything old is new again
I drove past the old neighbourhood
it’s front drives and satellite TV’s
here where the trees grow tall much of life is still wild
at least it used to be
and later until there’s nothing
but the moon and me
Everything is broken everything is free now..
